Is it possible that people could be trying to lose weight for the wrong reasons? Well, according to a recent survey, that could be the case…
Of course, everyone’s main aim is the same, which is to lose body fat. However if you’re wanting to lose weight for the wrong reasons you could end up hurting yourself and actually find slimming more difficult.
Let’s take those people who want to become super skinny. If they aren’t naturally slim, losing weight can end up making them really ill and they’ll probably still not be satisfied.
Then you have all those products that claim to be able to shed lots of fat with little effort. These slimming pills can include laxatives and stimulants which can be very dangerous over the long-term.
Then of course there are those who develop eating disorders such as bulimia and anexoria.
Why should you be losing weight then?
There are plenty of genuine reasons to lose weight and it would be a good idea for you to think about what they are. Perhaps you’re worried about developing illnesses such as diabetes. Perhaps you want to have more energy so you can play with your children. Or perhaps you want to lower your cholesterol levels.
So if you have reasons like the ones above then sure, losing weight is an excellent idea. Just make sure you come up with the reasons for yourself and not to please someone else. Always aim to be healthy and happy.
Although you want to set yourself goals, they ought to be realistic. You can’t expect to go from a size 20 to a size 8 in just a matter of months.
